What we learn about small business cash
Everything Arclite publishes lives here. The newsletter, the late payment data, the walkthrough, the setup guides, and how your QuickBooks connection is handled.
Five things, all free to read.
Two of them are research. One is the product in four minutes. Two are the pages you read before and after you connect your books.
- What late payment costsThe Float, our newsletter. Every two weeks we take one story and pull the cash lesson out of it.
- Late payment data by industryHow long US small businesses really wait to get paid, broken out by trade and invoice size.
- The four-minute walkthroughThe whole product, start to finish. Connect QuickBooks, read the thirteen weeks, approve a reminder.
- Setup guides and answersHow to connect QuickBooks Online, how credits work, and what to do when a number looks wrong.
- How we handle your dataWhat Arclite reads, what it never touches, and why nothing sends or pays without your approval.
Because most of what is written about small business cash cannot be traced.
Search any late payment statistic and you will find the same figure repeated across a hundred blog posts, each one citing the one before it. Follow the chain far enough and it usually ends at a press release, a survey with no published sample, or nothing at all.
That is a strange state of affairs for a problem this expensive. We build a cash forecast for a living, so we read this material closely, and we got tired of finding numbers with no parent. So we write our own, and we hold ourselves to three rules.
- Cite the primary sourceIf a number comes from a survey, we name the survey, the year and the sample. If we cannot find the original, we do not use it.
- Say when we do not knowPlenty of questions about small business cash have no good public answer yet. We would rather write that down than round it off.
- Show the methodWhen we publish our own numbers we say where they came from, what we counted, and what we left out.
None of this is a content program. It is the reading we were already doing. If you want the product instead, take the four-minute walkthrough or go straight to $50 a month, 7-day trial.
